Health and recreation center “Iskra”

The health and recreation center is a unit of South-Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant.

            It is open on the continuous basis: 16 check-ins per year, staying period is 21 days each.

            Annually more than 1500 persons receive recreational services on a day release basis.

            This health and recreation center is designated to strengthen health and to prolong occupational longevity of plant’s personnel through implementation of special-purpose programmes for personnel rehabilitation.


Special-purpose rehabilitation programmes cover the following categories of employees:

  • operating personnel during its training in the Training Centre;
  • employees with especially harmful and harmful working environment based on medical examination results.


Diagnostic and treatment can be provided in the following areas:

  • urology;
  • neurology;
  • acupuncture;
  • shockwave therapy;
  • otorhinolaryngology;
  • gynecology;
  • physiotherapy;
  • balneotherapy;
  • heat therapy;
  • massage;
  • laser therapy;
  • therapeutic physical training;
  • mechanotherapy;
  • galotherapy;
  • endoecological rehabilitation;
  • pneumomassage;
  • ultrasound examination.

14 forms of electrotherapeutics, 3 types of inhalation, 15 types of medical baths, underwater douche-massage, contrast shower, contrast power shower, ozokerite application and mud application are in place at  “Iskra”.

Dietary treatment and herbal tea room are in place at “Iskra” as well.

To improve the quality of diagnostics and to expand the scope of services, “Alpinion E-CUBE 7”, a new digital system for ultrasonic diagnostics, was purchased in 2014. There is ultrasonic diagnostics of the hepatobiliary, urogenital systems and thyroid gland, heart, breast and cervical vessels.

The health and recreation centre provides a playing room, a gym and sauna with a swimming-pool, a library  for its residents over the period of their rehabilitation.
